I absolutely agree with the review by Ronald Linch. I replaced my old Insinkerator Badger disposal (piece of junk, sprang a leak after only 3 1/2 years) with a new Waste King L-8000. This adapter let me conveniently attach the new disposal, which makes use of the EZ mount, to the Badger's 3 bolt mount, which was already attached to the sink.
I think the negative reviews come from individuals not understanding when this adapter is required and when it is not. I will attempt to make that clear:
If your new disposal makes use of a 3 bolt mount, you cannot use this adapter.
If your new disposal makes use of EZ mount and you program to eliminate the old 3 bolt mount, or you are attaching to a sink without having an old disposal, you don't need to have this adapter given that the new disposal will need to come with a complete set of EZ mount hardware.
If your new disposal makes use of EZ mount and you currently have a three bolt mount installed in your sink drain (from an old disposal), this adapter will save you the operate of removing it and installing the new EZ mount hardware.
If your new disposal utilizes EZ mount and you currently have an EZ mount installed, you don't require this adapter.
I utilized one other reviewer's feedback in order to confirm I did indeed require this adapter: I was preparing to leave the existing 3-mount of the old disposer (Badger 1) and use this adapter with a new EZ-Mount (Waste King 8000). The removal of the old disposer and modification/installation of the mount with this adapter went smoothly and was rather straightforward Nonetheless, once in spot I could see there would be a drain situation unless the plumbing connecting to the other sink trap were modified (lengthened lowered). Leaving the 3-mount and adding the adapter effectively lowered the drain outlet from the disposer putting it lower than my existing drain connections, which means gravity would not perform in my favor. I opted to install the disposer without having the adapter and removed the original three-mount assembly from the old disposer. The item and installation directions are excellent - I just did not want to modify my current plumbing piping and did not will need to as soon as I installed with out the adapter.
